Why are both my cats vomiting bile and throwing up after a hairball?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7.5 lbs

We have two cats, Stevie and Malia, a domestic medium hair and a domestic short hair respectively. Yesterday Malia woke us up with a hairball but then a few hours later Stevie began vomiting small amounts of bile. In the evening as Stevie ate a small amount Malia vomited a large amount at the sight of food. Malia has had three vomiting events in all and stevie continues to have bile come up every couple of hours. There are no plants in the house. Any idea what could be wrong?

Poor Stevie and Malia! It could be they have a stomach illness causing this. I can give you home remedy to see if that helps. Feed them a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in their normal diet. If they refuses to eat the bland diet, they vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, they will need to see a vet right away.

Oh no, poor Haro Kitaru! She may be vomiting from a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or could have pancreatitis. Poor Kitty Kat sounds ill! It could be that he is suffering from a GI illness, foreign body, pancreatitis, or eating something rotten causing his symptoms. If he's been vomiting for less than 24 hours, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. Your cats are adorable! I'm sorry to hear that they haven't been feeling well. As you mentioned, their vomiting could be caused by eating raw turkey, but could also be due to a virus or intestinal parasites. It's encouraging that they are still interested in playing, despite their vomiting. A trip to the vet would be ideal to assure that they are well-hydrated and that there are no other major physical exam concerns. Since this is not an option at the moment, you can try to withhold their food for the next 24 hours, then offer small amounts of a bland diet of boiled chicken frequently. Be sure that both cats are drinking water regularly. You can tempt them to drink by adding a tablespoon of low sodium chicken broth to their water, or offer a bit of watered down meat baby food. If Chloe and her friend continue to vomit, refuse to eat, or become lethargic, you will need to take them to the vet for further evaluation. I hope this helps and that they are feeling better soon!

That could be related to hairballs,or possibly another type of gastrointestinal disease(infection, inflammation, pancreatitis and many others). I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled white fish and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
