My senior dog coughs when picked up and hasn't pooped in a week?

Hi. I have a dog thats about 15 years old. About a year and half ago, he’s been having this cough, gag-like noises, whenever I pick him up and only stops when I put him down. I also think he’s had trouble pooping. I can’t remember the last time he did but he hasn’t defecated this week at all. Should I be worried? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male

If Popeye hasn't passed any stool at all in a week, I would be worried. It is a good idea to bring him into your vet for an exam and potential X-ray to check for obstructions, constipation, etc. They can also address the coughing to see if it is related, or if other issues such as trachea problems, heart/lung issues, etc need to be addressed.
