Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tiny. I'm sorry he's sick! Unfortunately I cannot recommend giving him an injection of procaine g and cannot recommend giving him an injection. It is illegal for me to do that. It's actually pretty serious for him to be off his food, and if a cat goes long enough without eating (about 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, You need to take him into a vet now to diagnose what is going on with him and can treat him. I hope this helps!

Hi, has he had any blood tests ? If so, are these all fine ? If no suspect of pancreatitis or liver disease he could have some Hill’s recovery food, slightly warmed up and offer small amounts little and often. You could also offer a small amount of tuna in water or sardines or white fish. Try to encourage him to eat spontaneously, now that he has received some medications, his temperature might drop and he might feel more inclined to eat. If by this afternoon he stilll has not eaten, I would recommend to try with syringe feeding some recovery diluted with water. If he should not eat, I would still recommend that he is on a drip, at low fluid rate and he receives antibiotics intravenously. Hope it helps.

I am very concerned about your cat. Did your veterinarian give you a reason for the fever? Also do you know what the shot was? My concern is with a younger cat and a fever that there is always the possibility of a cat with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritionitis). There is no real test for this and is more a diagnosis of exclusion. I would discuss this with your veterinarian tomorrow to see if with what is going on with your cat this may be a possibility. No, you need to bring him to the vet urgently, a cat that does not eat for more than 3 days starts developing a condition called fatty liver and this must be treated with iv fluids, anti emetic medications and other medications to support the liver, this is even before your vet finds and treats the original condition that caused him to stop eating in the first place. you must take him to the vet today otherwise he will not survive and you cannot treat this at home.

Hello. Thank you for reaching out to Pet Coach. I am not familar with the antibiotic that you specifically have mentioned. However, in the US we do use something that sounds similar, called Clavamox. Either way, all antibiotics should be given with food if at all possible to avoid upset stomach. Many cats have a reduced appetite when they have a fever, so it is not surprising that Haro Kitaru is not eating on her own. I am very sorry that she is feeling ill and has a fever. If you are able to give her a small amount of chicken or turkey baby food before administering the antibiotic that would be best. This will reduce the chance of causing an upset stomach. Or you can offer her canned tuna or chicken as well. Best of luck with your kitty. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Poor girl. I am unsurewhat her undelrying disorder is; however her very best option here is to be hospitalized and given nutrients and her medicaitons by injection. Also Amoxicillin oral should always given with food, because giving this on an empty stomach (the milk is helpful but not enough) will lead to further lack of appetite and upset stomach. Which is why giving her medicaitons as an injectable is ideal for a cat that is refusing to eat. As an alternative you can also see if the vet will give her a vitamin injection and subcutaneous fluids to help boost her energy. The vet can also prescribe an appetite stimulant to help entice her to eat. And as an alternative to givign her Amoxicillin in an empty stomach, your vet can give her an injectable antibiotic called Convenia, which will work for 2 weeks after just 1 injection. Force feeding her slightly warmed cans of baby food or a liquid pet diet such as Recovery liquid using a syringe or small turkey vaster is also helpful. I h

If Boxer is not improving and is not eating or drinking, I would recommend taking him back to the veterinarian for a recheck and having anti-nausea medications and fluids given to see if this helps further. If he continues to not eat, he may need a feeding tube if his liver becomes affected. I hope this helps! I would avoid giving Calpol as cats are very sensitive to this drug and can develop toxicity quite easily. There are safer fever reducers such as Meloxicam that you can have your veterinarian prescribe for you. I hope this helps! I would also recommend an antibiotic such as Convenia in case there is a secondary bacterial infection Boxer is fighting.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Chimpu! Sadly I can't give you a prognosis with out a diagnosis and we can't do that over the internet. Chimpu needs to see a Vet for an exam, blood work and X-rays. Cats shouldn't go longer than 2 days with out eating as that can cause a secondary serious liver problem (fatty liver syndrome). Causes of a fever in cats are: viral or bacterial infections, feline infectious peritonitis, feline leukemia, pancreatitis, blockage from a foreign body and cancer. I do think this is serious since it has been 4 days. He should be hospitalized if possible until we find out the cause of his fever. I am not in full agreement that he won't survive, but I am worried he won't with out intervention. I wish you and Chimpu the best!

Fever in cats usually indicates there is an infection present. Cats also can get fever from a flea parasite called Mycoplasma, which is treated with an antibiotic. There isn't anything you can do for either of these scenarios at home unfortunately. A vet visit is required to treat for these and hopefully get Snow back to normal. I would ask friends and family if they can assist you with getting Snow to the vet for further care. Chiku is not eating anything from yesterday & now his body temperature is also high. What can i do now?
I strongly recommend getting your cat seen by your vet as soon as possible. Cats can sometimes get fevers with no known origin and it makes them not want to eat. A cat cannot go more than a couple days without eating before they develop liver damage. Your cat may need fluids and supportive care in order to lower his temperature back to normal and support him until his appetite returns.

THe only medication for fever in cats is Meloxicam but this needs to be given by your vet, there is nothing from a human pharmacy that is safe for cats. if he is not eating for 2 days- the amoxy drops are not enough, he will need other medications and treatment, please take him back to the vet ASAP.
