My golden has lymphoma. Is prednisone making his breathing worse?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Our golden retriever was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. He is taking prednisone and every since starting it his breathing has been heavy and almost sounds like he is congested. He has very little energy now. Seems as though he is worse now than he was when we took him to the vet.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening. I recommend to call your vet. This could be a side effect from the medication or it could indicate his lungs are filling with fluid from the cancer. I hope they figure out a solution quickly.
