My puppy bites my other dog's neck. How to treat the sores at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 80 lbs

I have two pitbulls and the puppy constantly jumps up and bites the other one on the neck. So now there are sores and the hair is gone on those spots. What do I clean them with and do I cover them up? Can u please tell me how to get him to heal and if there is a medication I can give him. I can’t afford to go to the veterinarian.

Hello. You can buy a medicated skin wash at any pharmacy. I like Hibiclens, but you can get the generic as well. After cleaning , apply a topical triple antibiotic ointment as needed. Once the puppy matures, this bad behavior should stop, but you might want to fashion a tee shirt to cover up Titan's neck area. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
