My cat had a stillborn. Why is she in heat and should I worry?

My cat gave birth to a stillborn cat about a week ago. She is now acting like she is in heat. I have no idea if she has any more kittens. She does not seem to be in pain. Should i be worried?

Cats can go back into heat quickly after giving birth, especially if her kitten was stillborn. I cannot say if Katniss has any more kittens without seeing her in person, I'd have her checked out by a vet to be safe.

She may very well be back in heat. Typically, a female cat will go back into heat 6-8 after delivering a litter of kittens. Some can be ready as soon as a week afterwards. This can certainly be compounding the stress or losing one of her kittens. Maintain as much of a normal a schedule with her as you can. Do not force attention on her though. Keep her remaining kittens close and make sure she is nursing regularly.

A vet visit is always recommended in these cases so that is my suggestion - get her to a vet for an exam. If you don't want to take her to the vet just yet then monitor her closely for any signs of illness (not eating/drinking, lethargy, vomiting, hiding, etc). If you notice anything abnormal, then get her to the vet ASAP. She may have only had one kitten - there may not be any others. Please consider having her spayed as soon as you can. If they have stillborns they will usually continue to do so.

She gave birth two days ago. Now looks like she's in heat already. She's flirting with lazga ( the male cat), they were about to mate when I seperated them. Isn't weird she's in heat two days after labor?
Cats can go into heat quickly after giving birth, so it's very important that you keep Habla separated from Iazga to prevent her from getting pregnant again. Iazga should have no contact at all with her these first critical weeks of life.

Cats are often going into heat within 2 weeks after weaning the kittens. The discharge is called lochia and can last several weeks after the kittens are born. I recommend spaying these cats right around the time the kittens are weaned, or within that 2 week period after, to insure they do not get bred again. Then you won't have to worry about Shadow having another litter.

It is not possible for your cat to be in heat this soon. She likely is experiencing some other internal problem and I highly recommend taking her to your vet right away. She needs a proper exam and possible diagnostic tests (bloodwork +/- radiographs) to determine what the internal problem is and hopefully get her treated quickly. I am worried about her behavior and encourage you to take her to your vet quickly. Overfeedng does not cause a cat to go into heat sooner than the body is ready. I hope that your pet Lali gets well soon! I would recommend bottle feeding these kittens until you can figure out what is going on with Lali and get her treated. You can purchase kitty replacement formula from your local feed store, some vet hospitals or your local pet store. My cat just had three stillborn kittens no fur and they were pink but she still looks pregnant could she be
It could be that Shiver has more kittens that still need to be born, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. It's concerning that three have been stillborn, and I would be worried there's something wrong and she needs help giving birth. My advice is to take her into a vet immediately to be checked out. Hi, I would not let her have kittens so soon, as this could put her health at risk. Having kittens put a big strain on the body, and it is not advisable to let them have kittens at every season they have. Actually she should be neutered so that she does not have any more pregnancies, there are a lot of stray cats already in the world ! While some discharge may be normal during pregnancy, bleeding or other discharge from the vaginal region that is discolored may indicate an infection or other complication to pregnancy which should be addressed by your vet. As cats are induced ovulators, it may also be that she was not bred successfully during her previous heat and come back into heat. Cats will continued to cycle in and out of heat while "in season" and so she may be ready to be bred again. You are welcome, I was glad to help you! Queens can go into heat after kittens, but I would not mate Nancy. She needs to focus on her kittens. I'm sorry Alaska lost her kittens! She can go back into heat anytime soon, but I would not let her mate. It's best to allow her to have a cycle or two to have her body heal before mating again. Most cats don't start producing milk until right before the kittens are born or when the kittens start nursing. It shouldn't be a problem for the future. I hope this helps!
