What's that on my cat's tooth? Does he need a vet for dental care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered

I found this in my cat's mouth today- what is it, and do I need to take him to the vet for it? He hasn't lost any teeth and is still eating and seems otherwise content as always.

It may be a resorptive lesion on the tooth. This is an indicator of dental disease. They can be painful, so a visit to your veterinarian would be recommended. Tinsel may need a complete dental cleaning. Given current events, you may need to drop him off at the clinic and wait for your veterinarian to call you to discuss exam findings and treatment options. https://www.petcoach.co/cat/condition/tooth-resorption/
