Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old
I moved my bird into a different room for the night because we had advised conference and they were quite loud. I came back to check on them in the morning and there were so many feathers! It had only been one night and I'd moved them into a smaller cage. They are all from one bird because theyre green. I've never seem him she's this many feathers in one night! Is it possibly he plucked them out from stress? If he did what steps should I take to avoid this happening again? Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out about Quiz and including photos. It surely sounds as if this is a stress response. Too many changes in a very short period of time: different room, different cages, different routine. The only answers are to try and mitigate stress: keep area quiet and maybe dim lights. Avoid any other additional stresses as in loud noises. Try and spend more time with them as a calming effect. Good luck.

There are multiple causes of feather loss in avian species, some of which are associated to stress. Re-location, lack of sleep, change in routine can all lead to stress. But other causes include nutritional deficiencies, some viral disease, external parasites, metabolic disorders. Unfortunately it is going to be difficult to come to a specific conclusion without some diagnostics tests. There is no test for stress in birds. So try and lessen/eliminate perceived stress. Correct nutritional deficiencies. If the condition progresses, a veterinary visit is necessary. Good luck.
