My German Shepherd's wound has maggots and bleeding. Is it infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 48.5 lbs

I have German shepherd. He is suffering from severe anal sacculitis. now his wound is ok but new problem came that is maggots. We saw small holes in the wound from which puss and blood was oozing while pressing the holes. Today during his dressing we spray in the holes for killing of maggots after that he feels good but at midnight I saw bleeding which is more in amount than earlier. Is this due to infection? please guide me because we can't go to veterian due to curfew in our area.

Unfortunately I don't know based on your description alone - this would really require an in person veterinary visit. I'm thinking infection is a possibility, and further treatment for the maggots might be required - often sedation and surgical flushing and debridement of a wound is needed for maggots. I'd recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as you are able.
