My puppy's broken tooth fell out. Is it bad if she swallowed it?

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 23 days old

Her left fang was moving but now is broken and i guess she swallowed it what to do and i will go to vet but just tell me if she swallowed it is it good or bad?

Nancy is at an age where she will be teething, so she likely lost her baby canine tooth. It is normally that they swallow them. But if it's broken, you do need to have her checked by a vet to make sure the root isn't still there.

If you're talking about the baby tooth, as long as he isn't in pain, it should be okay. Give it a day or so, if it doesn't come out on its own, get him in to see your vet. If the remnant stays in, it can cause the adult tooth behind it to become crooked or trap food and cause decay.

Swallowing her baby teeth should not cause her any problems. Often these teeth end up falling out when they are outdoors chewing on things and we never find them, but we do not have cases of dogs becoming ill or being injured from the loss of their baby teeth or these small teeth being swallowed.

Today while playing, my puppy ran behind me while I was laying back. I heard her cry out. When I checked her over, I noticed her canine tooth had broken off. I don’t see any tooth left in the hole it came from. Should I be concerned.
You should have her seen by your veterinarian to confirm the entire tooth came out. Any small remnant of tooth or tooth root left in can lead to infection. Her adult canine should erupt and take the place.

My dog is 9 weeks old and he broke one of his canine teeth. should I be worried?
Hello, thank you for your question about Nico. Since Nico is so young, he likely broke one of his baby teeth. He may be experiencing some mild discomfort but he should be losing this tooth in the near future. I would not be overly worried and would recommend continuing to monitor him. Hello! If the baby canine tooth came all the way out and the piece of tooth coming out is his new adult tooth- then no worries! If the baby tooth is broken and partially inside the gums, then I would recommend a vet check. Unfortunately, broken baby teeth are a known risk factor for puppies getting tetanus because of all the crazy things they put in their mouths. In this case, we recommend extracting the remaining piece of tooth to prevent this. If you were planning on having him neutered, you may be able to schedule the tooth removal and neutering during the same anesthetic event. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco!

Broken teeth can be prone to abscesses. Bella is very close to the age where she will start shedding her teeth but I still recommend to have her seen by her veterinarian to be safe. Moving forward, do not allow her to chew on very hard objects. As a general rule, if you cannot make an indentation with your thumb nail in a toy, you run the risk that it could break her teeth if she is an aggressive chewer. Also make sure she is not chewing on the bars of her kennel as this will break teeth as well. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi, Nico has a few retained puppy teeth. He is almost 9 months and today we were playing and one of them snapped off. Does it look like it broke off safely? Could part of his tooth still be stuck in his gum?
There is a possibility that part of the baby tooth is still in the gum . You should have your veterinarian examine your puppy's mouth for retained parts of the tooth. They would need to be removed as they invite infection, especially tetanus infection. Please take your puppy to your vet on Monday. A tooth remnant would need to be removed, and depending on the condition of the gum he may need antibiotics.

I notice the pointy part of my puppy’s canine tooth is broken and it’s slowly turning dark brown. Is this an adult tooth? She is 4 months old
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Luna. It looks like it could be her baby tooth, and if the tooth is turning brown, I'm worried about the viability of the tooth. If the pulp is exposed, this will also cause her pain. Have her seen by her vet in the morning to discuss removing this tooth as needed. I hope this helps!

Hi, my puppy fell in her mouth Friday night, now a teeth is falling out, I'm not sure iif it's just a puppy teeth coming out naturally or if she got hurted by the fall.
The 2 front and center are adult teeth and the ones next to then are baby teeth that are meant to fall out. If she is eating and drinking normally and still playful I would not worry about the injury causing it as this is the right age for it to occur anyways. Her guns look healthy so you are unlikely to notice any problems if it was caused by the fall

My dog is about 6 months old. At first I thought this was a baby tooth but now I'm not so sure. Do I need to or is it possible to do anything about losing this tooth?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ally. At 6 months of age, she is likely still teething. The area of the missing tooth is the area of the canine tooth. The tooth in the picture, however, does not look entirely like a deciduous (baby) canine tooth. The root appears broken. I suspect you will see the adult tooth coming in soon. If her adult tooth does not begin to erupt in the next few days though, I recommend that she see her veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
