Why is my cat lethargic, won't eat, and vomits pale monthly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 8 lbs

Approximately every 4 weeks or so my cat, Hunter, becomes lethargic and won't eat. then within a day he vomits solid pale vomit - looks like white poop. He has regular bowel movements. Eats dry food and wet food. Drinks water regularly. The food we feed him is for sensitive stomachs. It used to happen more frequently before changing to sensitive stomach. The wet food is just chicken /turkey and water. After vomiting he is back to his normal self. He wants to eat and play and nap like normal.

That is odd, especially if it's cyclical. Some issues such as liver/gallbladder/pancreatic issues can cause the symptoms you describe, including pale stool or vomit, however they are usually longer term. It is possible Hunter is getting into something monthly (or reacting to something, such as a flea med or medication). If you can't seem to find a pattern to it, a complete workup of an X-ray or bloodwork at your vet may help give you more answers. They can also help rule out potential food allergies that could be a trigger as well.
