My dog licks paws after grass. Can I give children's Benadryl?

My dog began licking paws after being in new spring grass, he is adopted and past history to allergies unknown. I have children’s Benadryl only. Can I try this and how much? He is a golden doodle. Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 70 lbs
