Why is my cat peeing pink, avoiding litter box, and losing weight?

My cats urine has a pinkish tinge to it. She Has started to urinate on my rug instead of her litter box, she still goes number two in a litter box. She seems to also have lost a little weight.

This reddish tinge indicates blood in the urine. This can be caused by feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. You need to have Nala seen by a vet for blood work and a urinalysis to get this diagnosed and treated. I'd take her into the vet in the morning.

It does look like the urine is blood tinged. It may be that she has some crystals in her urine, bladder stones, or a urinary tract infection, though these conditions often result in symptoms of frequent urination, pain while urinating ( sometimes yowling in the box, or seeming to be in and out of the box, or urinating inappropriately outside of the box). Another possibility would be a toxin exposure; acetaminophen is extremely toxic to cats and causes the urine to appear bloody. Since she isn't acting ill at all, this seems unlikely; however, I would advise that you ensure there hasn't been a possible exposure. If she's eating, drinking, acting ok, not lethargic, no vomiting, diarrhea, change in breathing, etc, its not an emergency (UNLESS SHE'S GOTTEN TYLENOL), but take her in to your vet at your first convenience. Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate. my cat has some blood in urine. it is very clear and not noticable until she had a accident on a grey plastic matt. I did just get her a new litter box in the last 48 hours.
Poor Hazel! It could be she is suffering from idiopathic feline cystitis or bladder stones causing the blood in her urine. I would call the vet in the morning to make an appointment for her. The vet can do a physical exam, blood work, and a urinalysis to diagnose what is causing the blood in her urine, and can treat her for it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

It sounds like Belle has blood in her urine. This could be due to bacterial infection, idiopathic cystitis, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Belle needs to go to the veterinarian tomorrow to get her urine checked. These conditions are uncomfortable so the doctor will give her pain medications and treatment. Most cats will generally go back to using the litter box once the infection is cleared. I hope she starts feeling better soon!

It could be a urinary infection or a bladder inflammation it could also be coming from the anal area which would make me suspect of a gastrointestinal issue. either way i would strongly advise to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

I have, on about 4 occasions in 2 years, seen red in Snow’s litter with no further issues, but today I noticed her in pee pose in the litter and she was there too long and when she finished there was indeed blood. I know ‘cause she let me check her.
It could be Snow is suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. She will need to see a vet for this problem. If she appears otherwise healthy and happy, eats and drinks plenty, you can wait until Monday morning. If she appears lethargic, ill or distressed, or if the urine appears very bloody, then she should be seen by a vet ASAP. Feed her wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure she drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Not using the litter box can be a sign of a medical illness, such as feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stone. I would recommend taking your girl into your vet today for an exam. Your vet can do routine blood tests and a urinalysis to see if she does have feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. If she has feline idiopathic cystitis, she will need a steroid to treat it. Bladder stones may need to be removed surgically, or can be managed with diet. Please take her in today.

It could be Mia is suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones causing these issues. I would take her into a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing these problems, and can prescribe treatment for her. Best of luck.

Cat pee pink eating and drinking normal.
That is a sign of possible urinary tract infection/inflammation. In male neutered cats that is particularly risky as it could lead to partial or complete urinary blockage (urethral blockage) due to presence of crystals or stones in the urinary tract. I would recommend an immediate check up and treatment. Radiographs of the abdomen may be needed.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor PP! No, Petco/VetCo is not a full service vet, the clinics only do vaccinations and wellness services NOT sick appointments. PP needs to see a Vet today. Causes of bloody urine are: stress bladder inflammation (cystitis), urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Prevent her from urination by keeping her in her carrier or in a room with out a litter box for a few hours before the appointment so the Vet can collect a urine sample to test. If she has a urinary tract infection she will be put on antibiotics. I wish you the best!
