My dog has a dry, peeling skin patch on her back. Is it dry skin?

Hello, My dog seems to have a dry patch of skin on her back that appears to be peeling. It doesn’t seem to be hurting her- just some scratching every now and then. Just wondering if this is just a case of dry skin and if there is something we can pick up that can help it

It actually looks like a mild bacterial infection - I suggest you try this wound spray gel 3-4 times a day until healed. If no improvement after treating for about a week then you should have your vet check it. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-plus-hot-spot-antimicrobial-gel-for-dogs

This presentation could be due to a point of trauma or possibly a primary or secondary localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any).
