My cat only eats with Fortiflora. How can I cut down on costs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 12 lbs

My cat is addicted to Purina Fortiflora. In addition to being hideously expensive she won't eat her food without it. She goes through at least 2 packets a day.

There is no harm in her eating this daily forever although giving it twice a day is a waste of money. I suggest you take the packet and only put 1/2 the powder in her food at each feeding. If you feed her more than twice a day, you can just sprinkle a bit of the powder on the food at each feeding but I would not use more than one packet a day. If you continue to use less and less of it each day you may be able to wean her completely off of it if it is too expensive for you to give continuously.
