Why is my senior dog suddenly acting strange and disoriented?

I have a great dane who is 8 years old and has started to act strange. Ita almost as if he doesn't know who we are. We took him on a walk and he is still acting weird. We tried giving him a treat and it was as if he didn't know where it was until it was right under his nose. He has done this before but snapped our of it but this time he has maintained this weird behavior. He is definitely not himself. Pet's info: Dog | Great Dane | Male | neutered | 175 lbs

It sounds like Larry is acting disoriented for periods of time - it's possible that he has low blood sugar, liver disease, or a neurologic problem. It also might be possible that he is having vision problems. I'd recommend having your vet examine him and check some lab work to help determine what might be going on. If you can take a video of him when he is abnormal it could help your vet.
