Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 125 lbs
Hi good afternoon. We are hoping to to get some help and answers about our dog. His name is Monsieur and he is 6 years old. He is a German shepherd. He has a bad skin infection. We've been going back to the Vet for a couple of times but his skin infection is still the same. At first they said it was allergies. Monsieur is allergic to a couple of things. Then he was prescribed antibiotics. We've finished the whole course of antibiotics but its still the same and we think its getting worse.

This looks very bad. If this is not clearing up with antibiotics it is probably something more serious like an autoimmune disease or something called German Shepherd pyoderma. I suggest you take Monsieur to a veterinary dermatologist for more comprehensive diagnostics and treatment. https://centredmv.com/en/ce-que-nous-faisons/dermatologie/

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I recommend you discuss with your vet about a skin biopsy, as pemphigus might be the cause. This is a disease where the immune system attacks the skin. The problem is that this is treated with immuno-suppressants and if this is an infection then you will make the problem much worse. Therefore, it is best to get a sample first to get a diagnosis. I also recommend sending away a sample of the infected skin for a culture and sensitivity, as you might just have a resistant bacterial infection. Best of luck with Tyson!
