My cat is throwing up chunky vomit after booster shots. What to do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 14.5 lbs

My cat went to the vet on Thursday and got some booster shots. Then, on Friday, he threw up twice & today (Saturday) he threw up again. It is a light brown kinda chunky vomit. I'm not sure if this is a reaction to the vaccine or something more serious. What should I do?

You can see some vomiting after shots, and while it is concerning, it doesn't sound like a lot of vomiting. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps Dexter. Withhold food tonight, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

Deworming treatments as well as vaccines can cause diarrhea as a side effect. I wouldn't be concerned about Rae just yet, and I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 6 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Possible side effects after vaccines include pain at the injection site, lethargy, inappetence, vomiting and general discomfort. This should subside within 1-2 days. The vomiting could certainly be due to other reasons like gastroenteritis. If it does not improve or it worsens, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi Amanda! I'm sorry that Mongeau vomited today. You can see vomiting as a side effect of the vaccines, and it's only a concern if it's protracted and continuing vomiting. Given that he only did it once, I wouldn't be too concerned. Keep an eye on it, and try feeding him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts to see if that helps settle his stomach. If he vomits the chicken, then I would be concerned and recommend you take him into a vet right away. You can see if there is an ER vet in your area; If not, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
