Why is my cat screaming, licking his privates, and can't walk?

Pet's info: Cat | Ocicat | Male | neutered | 2 years and 10 months old | 0 lbs

My cat can't walk in a straight line without screaming (meowing aggressively) and then he proceeds to lick his private part, any advice? I am worried. Can't go to the vet to check if he's ok because of the coronavirus. Can i do something at home that may help my cat?

It sounds like Smurfen is in a lot of pain, and unfortunately that cannot be treated by yourself. There are no pain medications you can give him, and if he's licking his penis, it could be he has a problem with his bladder. I would see if you can get a vet to come to your house asap to see him.

Urinary tract blockage in cats is a medical emergency that requires immediate intervention. Take him to the vet as soon as you can and in the meantime keep him indoor and try to monitor his urination behaviour and output.

Oh no, poor Snow! This can be a sign of a UTI, bladder stones, or a urethral blockage from bladder stones. A blockage is a medical emergency as it is fatal without treatment, and because I can't see Snow in person to rule this out, it's best that he is seen by a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into a vet now.

I suggest you have him to your vet for an exam and urine test. It is not normal for male cats to lick their privates incessantly. Male cats often form crystals in their urine and they can be irritating to the urethra as they pass through which may be causing the licking. As long as he is passing some urine it is not an emergency but you should try to get him examined in the next day or so.

He is most likely experiencing pain from urinary crystals. Very common in male cats. This can become a very big problem as often times the crystals will form together into a "glob" and get stuck in the urethra causing an obstruction which is an EMERGENCY! They can also form stones in the bladder. So, you really need to get him to your vet for an examination and urine test.

Whisker does sound like he's in pain, and I'm concerned about the blood dripping and pain in the hind end. He could have bladder stones causing the blood (if it's coming from his penis), and bladder stones can block the urethra, which is fatal without treatment. I think he sounds so poorly that he needs to see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Poor Tony! He could definitely be experiencing a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or even a blocked urethra and unable to urinate. Since he is crying and hissing, I am really concerned that he is hurting and possibly unable to urinate. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to check his bladder and his urine and get him started on the proper treatment plan to help him feel better. If a blocked cat is left untreated, it can cause serious damage to his kidneys. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better soon!

If he straining to go to the bathroom I worry more that he is trying to urinate instead of defecate. Male cats can develop a urinary obstruction and they can become very painful and very sick quickly. If this is the problem he needs to see a veterinarian immediately or it could become a fatal situation. Please keep trying to find someone who may be able to see him. I wish there was more that I could do for him. I hope he improves quickly.

I would be concerned this may be a sign of inflammation and part of the FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease complex). It is important to act quickly here as some cats can suffer extremely painful and severe blockages if untreated. Pain relief, antiinflammatories and sometimes catheters re required to relieve if very severe and he may need antibiotics if there is any evidence of infection. Dietary management long term can help to prevent recurrence depending on his test results

Minx is not using the cat box, refusing to eat, crying and now there is spots on blood on the floor. Help
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Given that Minx is a young male cat and having abnormal urinations and likely blood in his urine, I suspect that he may be suffering from Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), or inflammation in the lower urinary tract. This is causing him difficulty urinating, and painful urination. I recommend having him seen by a veterinarian right away, before he becomes fully "blocked", meaning unable to pass any urine at all. This is a life-threatening emergency, and requires rapid veterinary attention. Your veterinarian will perform a physical exam and likely recommend bloodwork to evaluate the severity of his urinary tract disease. FIC is a treatable condition, but again, if he becomes unable to pass any urine at all, he can experience acute kidney failure and develop fatal heart rhythms. I hope this is helpful!
