Why is my German Shepherd whimpering from neck pain when eating or moving?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 4 months old | 65 lbs

German Shepard whimpers loudly bending neck for food but easily eats elevated food. Also whimpers when raising head while laying down.

It sounds like Monster is having pretty significant neck pain. It could be a pulled muscle, but more serious possibilities include a bulging disc or even meningitis. I would recommend that you have Monster evaluated by a vet to determine what could be going on. After a physical and neurologic exam, the vet may recommend x-rays or blood work to determine what is going on.
