My dog has a serious skin infection. Could it be an animal bite?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | neutered

Hello, my dog recently couldn’t walk so we brought him in and the first vet refused to give certain care, my mom had to demand an X-ray, he was put on medicine for his hip. His eye started to swell shut with body fluid then we realized he had an injury to his abdominal area. She brought him in today and they told her it seems to be an animal bite which is causing the skin to seem so patchy and fleshy. He’s on antibiotics now for it but I just want to make sure that is what it seems to be

I don't think it is a bite but, of course, it could be. There are rare few diagnoses we can make just based on a photo. This is an obvious skin infection/inflammation but the underlying cause....I don't know. I suggest you keep him on the antibiotics and if he still does not seem right then call your vet. This does look very serious.
