My rat is weak, has a bloody nose, and is getting worse. What to do?

I don't know how to help my rat she has been weak for about 2 days and it started when she had either blood or porphryn coming out of her nose and a store said she would need doxycilne for her to help but she has been declining instead of improving. What should I do? And I think she has a cold but I am not sure?

Hi, and thanks for your question. This sign could be compatible with a severe upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a rhinitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). An immediate clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Nutritional support and antibiotics are likely to be needed.
