Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Female | spayed | 59 lbs

Dog has special GI food, sensitive stomach. She hurt her neck Friday and was sent home with Rimadyl and Gabapentin. She gets them with food like advised, she eats at 5am and takes pills then small food snack at 11am, today she threw up around 1:45pm. Think the rimadyl is too much for her, shes due for pain med around 5pm do i give her the Gabapentin with food or just food or wait till 9pm

I would give her next dose of gabapentin with food at 5pm. I would not recommend giving any more Rimadyl until you can touch base with your vet tomorrow, because you're right - the vomiting could be from the Rimadyl. Your vet may be able to suggest a different medication to try if they think the Rimadyl didn't sit well with her. The vet may also determine if an anti-nausea medication might be appropriate to help minimize the risk of vomiting while on her meds. Hope this helps! All the best to Chili.
