My cat has unequal pupils and snorting. Vet unavailable, what to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years and 9 months old | 7.8 lbs

My cat has swollen submandibular lymph nodes. Was seen by my vet Thursday. Treated with Convenia and oral Clindamycin. Is now having snorting type respirations. Also her pupils are now unequal in size. My vet is unavailable and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Bear. Oh no, poor girl. I'm quite worried about the breathing and unequal pupil size. The unequal pupil size is known as anisocoria, and it's a medical emergency when it happens suddenly. She really does need to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. I hope this helps!
