My Yorkie ate Funyuns. Is a small amount of onion safe for my dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

My dog accidentally ate half a chip of Funyuns. It's a 5-6 pound Yorkshire Terrier. As I mentioned earlier, it was a singular half of a chip and it was relatively thin. What do I do? I couldn't find anything for my dog's weight in particular, 5 or 6 or so pounds, on the Internet so I'm concerned.

Hello. This is not harmful to your puppy. Ingesting large quantities of fresh onion can cause a blood/anemia disorder....but eating one Funyun will not. The worst I would expect is a bit of loose stools. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
