Why is my dog's nose peeling off? Is it serious or should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 years and 6 months old | 90 lbs

My dogs nose has this and it peels off. I have no idea what it is! He doesn't act like it bothers him but I've never seen it before. Any ideas?

That could be many things including ringworm (which humans can get), autoimmune condition or even cancer. I recommend to have Blaze examined by the veterinarian. Just like humans, non-healing lesions are worrisome. Better to play it safe. I hope this helps.

    Hello. A sore and peeling nose can be caused by a trauma, sun burn (unlikely if you are in the UK), auto-immune diseases of the nose where the body attacks those cells, or infection. I would recommend having Khan seen by a vet to check for these things, and see if you need medications. Good luck with Khan.

I noticed today on Bosco's nose what looked like tiny dark spots I looked more carefully and rubbed one and a scab-like chunk came off but all the hair in the area peeled off with it. I didn't have to pull or pick, it just kinda rolled off.
From the photos it appears that the lesion is affecting both the mucosa of his nose and also his skin. This could be some sort of deep bacterial infection or perhaps something like ringworm (which humans can get). It is also very concerning however for an autoimmune condition. I recommend to have a Bosco visit his veterinarian with in the next day for an exam. The doctor may try treatment or testing for an infection. The doctor may also recommend a biopsy. A biopsy is needed to diagnose an autoimmune condition. Best of luck. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hello. Has your veterinarian done a biopsy on the nasal tissue? If not, until cancer is confirmed, this could be something else like an infection or autoimmune condition. A small portion of black skin on my dog’s nose came off. Is it something to be concerned of? And will it just grow back?
It looks like Wemwem probably rubbed her nose on something and if this is the case it should go back to normal. If it doesn’t seem improved in a week or two or if you notice scabs or more spots I’d recommend seeing your vet to make sure it’s not a skin infection or parasite.

My dogs nose seems to be itching him alot lately and just a few days ago there is now a red blister like thing on top of his nose.. It doesnt seem to be bothering him
Any lesion/mass or blister on the nose that does not go away on its own within 1-2 weeks time should be looked at by your vet and samples taken of it to aid in identification of the mass. In general masses on the nose can either be an inflammatory reaction (granuloma), benign or malignant tumors. Lets hope that Kane's mass isn't something to be worried about.

My dogs nose is starting to scab
There are many reasons for scabs on the nose. It can be related to an injury or autoimmune condition. It can also be related to a disease process within the nose. A physical exam is the only way to know what the cause is. Sometimes these pups even need a biopsy. I recommend to have Lucek seen by his veterinarian. What is wrong with my dogs nose?
I would recommend having Scarlet examined by a vet. It appears bumpy and all around the edges of the nose, which could be caused by some types of liver disease, autoimmune disease, infection, and even cancer. The vet will do a thorough examination and may recommend taking a sample for examination under the microscope or a biopsy to be able to determine the cause.

I dont know what is in my beagle's nose. At first i noticed that its dry. Then looks like its peeling then this. Can you explain this to me? Thank you!
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Summer. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. She may have a common condition known as hyperkeratosis of the nasal planum. If this is not the case, a more serious condition such as an autoimmune disease should be considered. Discoid lupus usually appears as a cracked, bleeding and ulcerated nose. This is diagnosed by a skin biopsy. I hope this information helps!

Hello, what is this? Does this require any extra medical attention? Or is it just dry skin that can be treated with a lotion?
This looks like it might be a bit more serious than dry skin - it looks like there is an ulcer on the nose and I can see a spot where there is loss of pigment. This could be from a nasal fungal infection, a bacterial infection of the nose, or an autoimmune disease. I’d recommend having Murdoc examined by your vet to determine what might be going on.

My dog has nose is all crusty on one side and seems to be on the inside of her nose as well
I recommend to have Bailey examined by the veterinarian. This could be something like ringworm (which humans can get) or it could indicate unilateral nasal discharge which can be indicative of a foreign object trapped in the nostril, a fungal infection or cancer. Best to get her examined. I hope this helps.

m MY LITTLE DOG HAS THIS BLISTER LIKE PATCH ON HER NOSE VET GAVE HER ANTIBIOTICS BUT ITS BEEN THERE FOR THREE WEEKS
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Based on the picture you have provided, it appears that this could be bacterial or a skin parasite causing the lesion. The skin may need to be cultured and if a skin scraping has not been performed, I would certainly recommend having this done to make sure this is not due to a skin mite such as demodex. If this is not due to a mite and is still there, I would recommend a culture / biopsy of the area for a more definitive diagnosis. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
