Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 12 years and 4 months old

Hello just I have 13 year old gsd that has swelling around the anus, and green discharge, but for a while has struggled at times to hold in his poo, and come out if going up a step, possible perianal fistulas or anal sac disease, is this some a 13 year old will recover from?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ludo. An anal sac infection or impaction is a treatable condition. Perianal fistulas can be harder to manage. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian for a thorough examination. He may need to go under anesthesia to better assess his condition. I hope this information helps!
