My dog ate a power cord wire. Should I take my dog to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 55 lbs

Autumn, age 1yr, siberian husky. Woke up to about 5inches of power cord to a bedside lamp eaten. She puked about 2-3 inches up (lower end just to be safe) after ingesting and has had a normal bowel movement before vomiting. Worried about the copper wire pieces. Very fine and small but worried. Ate a normal breakfast and acting very normal. No odd behavior, no wincing at pressure on the stomach, no excess drinking.

The only way you are going to know if there is anything inside her still would be to do an x-ray. I think in this case it is warranted to go to the vet and have an x-ray done. After that you will know what to do and what to watch for.
