Why do my puppy's eyes seem to deviate from his nose? Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | unneutered | 2 months old | 0.78 lbs

What is wrong with Minky's eyes. It looks as if his eyes are deviating from the nose, but not as bad as a pug's. His parents do not have this issue. Will he grow out of it?

I do not really appreciate any problems with the eyes in these photos. His right eye may have more of the sclera (white of the eye) showing at the middle corner area but I would not consider it abnormal. If you are worried I suggest you have him to a local vet for an exam. That way they can use the eye scope (ophthalmoscope) to check the eyes. Eye problems are best diagnosed in person.

Hello, subjectively his eyes do appear a little wider than expected. This may just be a variance of normal especially if he otherwise seems to be doing well and growing just like the rest of the litter. I would have him examined by a veterinarian prior to making the commitment of keeping him to ensure every checks out ok both visually and neurologically. It could be that his conformation may correct as he develops with time. Hope this helps
