My new hamster is stressed and biting bars. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I got a new hamster yesterday it has been going crazy all day biting the bars and climbing them all the time and sometimes squeaking , he eats and drinks, but he seems very stressed I tried several things to calm him down but nothing works , I took him out of his cage as I thought he might’ve been bored but he was still so stressed and nervous

I think you need to give him more time to calm down. One day is not enough. If he is very stressed it is best to cover the cage for a few days and bother him as minimally as possible. This will give him time to acclimate. This linked article below may help you more. https://hamsters101.com/help-hamster-adjust-new-home/
