My dog has a skin condition, vets disagree. What's the real issue?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

What is this? I was told by one vet it was a yeast infection, another said overgrowth of skin I’ve been using creams and it she has good days and bad days

There are quite a few things this could be: * nasal hyperkeratosis * discoid lupus erythematosus, * bacterial dermatitis/mucocutaneous pyoderma * pemphigus complex * solar dermatitis * hereditary parakeratotic hyperkeratosis * uveodermatologic syndrome * cutaneous lymphoma (mycosis fungoides or epitheliotropic lymphoma) * squamous cell carcinoma Because a wide variety of diseases may present with similar clinical signs, the most helpful diagnostic test is a skin biopsy. So, I suggest you work with your vet to get the biopsy done. That is the only way you will know how to treat it.

    Hello. This looks somewhat like an autoimmune condition called pemphigus. I would request that a skin biopsy be done in order to rule out this condition. A skin overgrowth makes no sense & unless your Brandy has a compromised immune system, a yeast infection is unlikely, too. Please follow up with your vet on this.
