My cat is weak and breathing hard after transfusion. Is this normal?

My cat that is 2 years old just got a blood transfusion they still don’t know what caused the anemia and I was allowed to bring him home he’s been breathing very hard which they said was normal and he hasn’t eat anything and he looks very weak

Pets that are anemic have a decreased ability to oxygenate their body, since red blood cells carry oxygen. While some increased respiratory rate is expected, it has me very concerned. Oxygen therapy will help to make sure that every red blood cell is filled with as much oxygen as possible. I would recommend discussing this with the vet and inquire about oxygen therapy and continued hospitalization.
