Why is my cat's poop black on antibiotics for mouth infection?

Hi my cat's poop its black i mean realy Black.. Its not diaria but its black.. He is with antibiotics beacuse he had an infection in his mouth.. He eats normally..

Hello. It is very common for some antibiotics to discolor the stool. As long as he is eating & feeling well, I would not be too concerned. You might call your vet tomorrow & just make sure this is a possible side effect from the medication that was prescribed, but I would not be too worried.     Hello. I am sorry for your concerns about your kitties misfortunes. I would not be too concerned about the stool. It probably is due to the antibiotic discoloring the stool. The important things are their appetites & color. If they are eating & drinking fairly normally & their mucous membranes ( gum tissues just above the canine teeth ) is at least a pale pink color, then they are probably healing well. The stools should clear up within a few days of stopping the antibiotic. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
