My Shih Tzu guzzles water, won't eat, and has dry paws. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 4 years and 1 month old | 25 lbs

One of our rescue dogs (both are males fixed utd on shots and 1 is chipped 1 is full shih tzu 1 is older shih tzu mix)the 4 year old shih tzu has a hernia is a bit chunky has really dry foot pads 1 pad is kinda crumbly and has a scab on it and he seems to guzzle water and eats really god recently seems to not eat as much as he has been and he hes a little begger booty whenever people are eating(I'm a stickler cause I dont wanna cause either harm so I'm consistent about not giving human foods

It sounds like there are several issues here. I am a little concerned about the increased water intake and poor appetite. These can occur with several disease, including diabetes and Cushing's Disease. I would recommend that you have Bougie examined by a vet to see what could be going on. Make sure to point out all of his current issues.
