My dog has a red growth on his foot, not bothering him. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

10lb chihuahua unknown age but older, sudden red growth on his foot. I don’t believe it was there a week ago. Doesn’t appear to be bothering him in any way, walking and running normal.

Any lumps/bumps that you notice on your dog should be checked out by your vet. Lumps in this location can be any of these things: * abscess (infection) * cyst * cancer (benign or malignant) There is no way I can tell you what it is just based on your description or by looking at a photo but I have a suspicion that this lump is a histiocytoma. If so, it should go away on it's own with no treatment. Here is link about it. It is still best to have your vet check it. ( https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952066 )
