Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Male | unneutered

I got a guinea pig today and it seems to have a skin condition as well as something sticking out of its nose, is it safe to keep or do i give him back before it spreads to my other guinea pigs. Thank you,

He probably has mange. If so, it is contagious to others and potentially to you. I think you are better off giving him back. If you decide not to return him, you will have to keep him quarantined away from the others until you get him cleared up. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/mites-in-guinea-pigs
