Can I use human medicine for my cat's infection or ringworm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I'm looking after 8 rescue cats in Bali and will be heading there from Australia on Tuesday. I'd really love some advice on which medicines to take to them as I find it quite hard to treat them in Bali. I need to treat an infected leg, a recent cat came with 4 kittens (now 3 weeks old) and she has an infection in her leg, the cats have had a bout of ringworm. I can't seem to find inexpensive medicines for cats and wondering if any human medications can be taken to help them.

First of all you will need to get those medications from a vet as we are mainly talking about prescription medications. For ringworm Itraconazole is usually used, for infections i recommend taking Synolux which is the most widely used antibiotics in pets. i would also recommend taking worming tablets (Drontal) and flea treatment (advantage).
