My cat ran away for two months and can back last month and since then though he acts completely normal he’s has brown diarrhea

It could be Chico has intestinal worms or it may be someone fed him a different food while he was missing, and going back on his old food is causing the diarrhea. I'd have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning for a health check.

It could be possible that stress from being left alone could lead to the diarrhea, but it could also be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, or a foreign body. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I am sorry This happened to kasey. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian immediately. I am not sure what caused this but now kasey needs immediate care. Kasey is most likely dehydrated and if he is not eating he could get fatty liver disease which is very difficult to treat. The feces could be soft/ diarrhea secondary to stress , toxins or something he got into when he was lost. I hope kasey feels better soon

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that Towan has had diarrhea, but I'm glad to hear that he's acting normal. My first though is usually dietary indiscretion, but you mentioned that he hasn't had any food changes in several weeks. If he doesn't go outside, it's very unlikely that he's picked up any parasites, but it is a possibility that should be ruled out if the color and consistency doesn't go back to normal within the next couple days. Some viral infections can cause stool changes that simply go away on their own, and you may never know what caused it. Another consideration, which is much much more unlikely due to Towan's young age, is a liver problem. Chronic light colored, super smelly poo can be an indicator of an issue with the bile duct. I really don't think that this is the cause as Towan is so young, but I would do you a disservice not to mention it. Personally, I would bring Towan in to the vet for a quick exam and stool check, just to be on the safe side, especially if the stools

This is definitely a concern, he could be allergic to the food, have worms or suffers from a gastrointestinal infection. offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2-4 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the diarrhea does not resolve, take him to the vet to get treatment.

Hi and thanks for posting! Diarrhea or loose stool can have many causes- parasitic infection, viral, or bacterial infections are all possible. Dietary indiscretion, eating something out of the ordinary, changing new foods rapidly, or certain food sensitivities can be a cause. You can try putting a few teaspoons of plain canned pumpkin in his food to help firm up his stool or you can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice to see if that helps. If not, I would recommend Sensi/Boba see his veterinarian. I would be sure to being a fecal sample with you in case his veterinarian wants to test his stool. I hope this helps!

I have a cat that is 13 yrs old she has developed diarrhea and has been having accidents since Friday
The diarrhea could be caused by a number of things, parasites, infection, even being constipated will sometimes show as diarrhea initially because liquid is all that can get by the hardened fecal material. If she is eating and drinking, that's good, since cats need to eat or they will develop liver problems in a matter of days. I would get her seen by your vet as soon as possible, especially if her appetite is down, if she is lethargic, her behavior has changed, any other adverse symptoms accompanying the diarrhea. Your vet will do an exam, some lab work and based on these results will be better able tot ell you what is wrong and how best to treat it.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Without seeing Alyssa it’s hard to say what’s going on. It could be stress from being at the boarding facility. Sometimes cats don’t eat well when they are out of their element. Also, stress can cause diarrhea. If the diarrhea lasts longer than 24 hours, I would recommend taking her to a vet to make sure nothing else is going on, like intestinal parasites or a bacterial infection. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chico. If he is eating, drinking and acting normal without vomiting, then it is likely ok to monitor him. The diarrhea can take a bit of time to resolve. If he seems to be getting worse or starts vomiting again, then he will need to be seen a second time. I hope this information helps!

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! If the food appears different than the one he normally eats it is possible that perhaps there is a different additive or food coloring that has upset his stomach (or is it possible it is a different flavor even though the brand is the same). We can see some pets have GI upset from quick changes in diet. That being said, we can also see diarrhea from other causes, including GI parasites, bacterial overgrowth, inflammatory bowel disease, as a symptom of systemic illness, and more. If he is still energetic with no vomiting you could try getting a probiotic from your vet or the pet store for him which can sometimes help with diarrhea and feeding something bland for a few days (such as plain white rice and shredded boiled chicken or lean ground chicken) or picking up the food you normally get at the pet store and trying this for a few days.
