My aggressive dog has a cloudy eye; vet turned us away. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 150 lbs

My Rottweiler has an eye injury that is cloudy and red. We took him to the vet this morning and he was scared and bit the vet tech and they told us to leave and that animal services will be getting ahold of us and he may be quarantined for ten days. He needs medical attention now. What should I do? Can an eye injury be treated at home? I don’t want my dog to go blind:( and I know he’s in pain. He just turned one year old on February 14th.

I agree that Semper needs to be examined today. Since he is aggressive, he needs to be sedated to be safely examined. No one wants to be injured. I recommend to call another vet and tell them Semper bites and that he needs to be sedated for an exam and treatment. You may need to go to an emergency clinic for treatment as they are better staffed and can handle a same day sedation in general. Eye injuries typically need medications and an elizabethan collar.
