My senior dog is straining to poop and crying in pain. What can I do?

My dog is 18 yrs old. He is not able to poop. He tries and hollars due to pain. Other than that he is normal. What should I do

In an unneutered male dog the likely problem is an enlarged prostate. When it enlarges, it pushes on the colon and can make defecation painful. He should see a vet for an exam. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/prostatic-disease-in-dogs
