Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Male | neutered | 4 years and 7 months old | 80 lbs
Hi. My dog developed a large lump on his belly overnight. Last night there was a red mark and his stomach was sensitive. Now there is a large, warm mass. It’s fairly soft and moves under the skin. I would think it was a lipoma if it didn’t happen so quickly. Any idea what this could be?

You are correct that lipomas generally grow very slowly. I recommend to have Jackson examined today. A rapidly growing bump is worrisome for an abscess, a foreign body reaction, an infected cyst or an aggressive cancer. Protect the area from licking by having Jackson wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Protect the area from trauma and have him examined today by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.
