Why is my cat peeing more after X-rays and sedation? Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 9.5 lbs

On the 19th my cat was sedated for x-rays. She ended up just having sprain so we've kept her in bedroom to limit her activity. Since the 27th though, I've noticed she has been peeing more. The frequency is more, but it also seems like the volume is because each delivery is at least average in size. I've emailed vet (they weren't open today) and will hopefully see them soon, but are there any non-serious reasons this could be happening? Looking up online has me concerned. Will get blood work done

Hello. I am wondering if your cat has been given any medications or received any type of anti inflammatory injection on the day if the sedation and X-ray? If so, was it a “steroid” type of drug. These types of drugs commonly cause a period of increased thirst, increased urination. Other than medication-related, there wound not be any direct correlation. Thank you
