Why does my dog smell bad and act constantly hungry? Are they linked?

I have a 10 year old cavalier King Charles spaniel. He has had a distasteful odour for some time even after washing and he is extremely obsessed with food- it’s like he is never full but he gets feed twice a day. He is not overweight or underweight. Just wondering if these two symptoms could be related. Thanks. Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | 12 years and 7 months old | 22 lbs
