It could be a species of roundworm. Without a fecal exam, it is difficult to determine definitively. The good news is that it isn't an emergency. You can submit it and/or a stool sample to your veterinarian on Monday. Once the specific parasite is confirmed, the appropriate dewormer can be administered or dispensed. You may need to repeat it in two weeks. A monthly heartworm preventive, such as HeartGard or Sentinel, can protect against reinfection.
