How to give dog Torbugesic after extractions: Dosing & food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 11 pound dog was prescribed torbugesic after his extractions yesterday, 1 mg morning and night. How long in between doses should I wait? Should it be given with food or on an empty stomach?

Hello. Ideally, the medication should be dosed 12 hours apart , 8 am and 8 pm, for example. If that’s not possible...try to get as close to 12 hours apart as you can. This medication can be given on an empty stomach, but since it can cause some GI upset, I would recommend giving food with it or giving it just after a meal.
