In a dog this small a condom could become stuck in her intestines causing an obstruction. If she just ate it you can try to induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide. She can have one teaspoon. If she does not vomit or if she ate it more than one hour ago then you should get her to your vet.

If you own a medium to large dog, there should not be any problem for her to pass it, in small dogs this can in some cases cause intestinal blockage - if she starts vomiting, being lethargic and lack of appetite you will have to take her to the vet ASAP, in case of intestinal blockage a surgery needs to be done as soon as possible.

That is actually not so uncommon as you may think! Unfortunately a condom may be possibly cause gastrointestinal partial or complete obstruction, so a more extended discussion would b ideally required to give you more specific answers (depending on sizes actually and how long ago the condom has been ingested ). Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

If Danny recently swallowed it (like in the last hour or so) then you can try to induce vomiting at home with hydrogen peroxide or table salt. http://www.dogscatspets.org/dogs/dog-vomiting/how-to-make-a-dog-vomit-safely-with-hydrogen-peroxide-salt-baking-soda-and-mustard/ If he ate it greater than 2 hours ago, likely the condom has moved from the stomach into the intestines and he will not throw it up. Luckily he is a large dog and I am pretty confident it will pass through. You can help by feeding him slices of bread through the day to help push it out. I know you are worried but try not to right at this time. I would only worry if you notice him become very lethargic, not wanting to eat/drink or not having any bowel movements over the next few days. If you notice any of those you will need to get Danny to the vet right away. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you and Danny! Dr. Amber
