My gerbil won't eat or drink, is still, breathing fast. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My gerbil won’t eat or drink for the past day now. She stays still and let’s us pick her up and move her and only moves around once every 15 minutes or so to take a few steps. Her breathing is quick and I thought she would pass by now but I’m worried she could benefit from antibiotics and that I’m wasting time not getting her to the vet even though she seems like the end is so near.

I'm sorry that this is happening. It is recommended that you take her to a vet. If they find that they cannot help her at least they can put her to sleep so she doesn't suffer. But if they can help her, then they can dispense some treatment.
