My dog was attacked. Why is she lethargic, not eating, and breathing shallowly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Long Coat) | Female | unspayed | 2 years old | 7 lbs

Is my dog going to be okay. My dog has a loss of interest and a shallow breath after an attack by another dog. She doesn't want to eat and hasn't had a bowl movement in about 3 days

Poor Reese! I'm afraid these are very concerning signs. I would be concerned that she may have internal injuries as a result of the dog attack, which can be very serious or even life-threatening. I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic tonight to be seen. The veterinarian there can examine her, listen to her heart and lungs, palpate her abdomen, and may recommend x-rays or other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong.
