My 2-week-old puppy coughed. Is this normal, or should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Blue Heeler | Female | unspayed

My dog had 10 puppies two weeks ago. I don't know if this is a concern but one coughed today. Three little coughs. He's big healthy and has been mobile and eating fine. His eyes just opened and he is moving around better then all the others. I change there betting every day and there mom is up to date on all vaccines. When should I worry. And is this normal

I wouldn't worry if it was just one-time, however I would monitor the puppies for any additional coughs or signs of respiratory issues (heavy breathing, vomiting, not wanting to eat or drink, turning pale/blue, etc) If the coughing happens again, or you are seeing other signs of illness, a vet visit right away is best.
