My senior dog has hip pain. How can I get affordable vet care?

We live in a tent on streets and are dog that is about 9 is having bad hip joint pain and i want to make her more comfortable but its hard for the obviously reason !!please i need too figure this out!!!! this dog is the rock to the little family and it scares !!!the hell out of me !!!! How my wife will deal with if something happened to are mama ber!! Please please help us !!?!????!

It sounds like Mama Bear needs some pain medication, and she will need to see a vet for it. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. It sounds like Delilah is in a lot of pain and unfortunately, this is likely something that needs to be addressed by the veterinarian. Keep her from further injuring herself by putting her in a crate or a bathroom with a baby gate. The more she walks around, the more she could injure it. She should only get out of this area to use the bathroom and she should be on a leash at all times. No walks, running, jumping, getting off/on furniture and keep stairs minimum. I recommend to discuss financing with family or friends. Delilah may need radiographs to know why she is suddenly in pain and then she may need treatment beyond that. You may also look into financing through Care Credit or Scratch Pay. You can find additional information on their websites. You may also go online and look for any low cost facilities, sometimes shelters will offer them but you will have to check. Best of luck.

Hi Alice! I can understand being worried about Pixie. It could be that she has injured herself while you were gone or has a spinal problem, and I recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.
